Frequently Asked Questions
Is everything ready to ship, or do you make to order?
Each piece I create is individually designed and handmade in my studio, making every item unique. Stock can vary — sometimes I’ll have your piece ready to go, and sometimes I’ll need to make it especially for you. If I’m making something from scratch, I usually ask for about 4 weeks.
For bespoke or personalized commissions, I recommend allowing around 6 weeks. Clay and kilns have their own rhythms, and occasionally a firing will need to be redone — I always want to ensure your piece is just right.
If you have a particular date in mind, let’s talk — I’ll do everything I can to make it happen.
How does commissioning a bespoke piece work?
Each bespoke piece is a collaboration between your vision and my hands. Prices typically range from £200 to £350, depending on the size, design, and whether you'd like the back decorated as well.
Here’s how we bring your idea to life:
You share your thoughts with me — what you’d love to create, along with an idea of your budget.
I’ll invite you to send me any text you’d like to include on your piece.
I’ll sketch a design to show you the scale and placement of the lettering. If I am decorating both sides, I’ll send two sketches.
Together, we’ll explore patterns and glazes, drawing inspiration from examples on my website to find the perfect match.
Once you're happy, a 50% deposit secures your commission, with the balance due once your piece is complete and ready to travel home to you.
Before dispatch, I’ll send you a photograph of your finished piece along with your final invoice (including postage).
Every commission is a slow, thoughtful process — shaped with care, fired in the kiln, and finished by hand, ready to become part of your story.
How to clean and take care of your treasures?
All of Jane's work is individually handmade in high fired earthenware.
The plain glaze pieces are dishwasher proof. It is not recommended to use the dishwasher on decorated items.
